Kayla T. Robinson
Hi,
My name is Kayla Thomason Robinson. Thomason is my maiden name. Including Thomason in my name and my artwork keeps me connected to my roots. I thank God that my mother and my late father supported my artistic abilities throughout my childhood. Still today my mother shows her enthusiasm when I show her a finished piece. I began drawing at the age of five. I was always into something, whether it was drawing on my sister’s baby dolls with permanent marker or drawing portraits of my family in the living room.
I also thank God for my husband, Aaron Robinson. I have all the respect in the world for him. We met at a young age and he has supported and loved me for the past ten years. We were married in September of 2006. We still wake up every day looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together. We have been each others backbone through hard times as well as the good times.
I knew I always wanted to have a career in art. After high school I had no desire to continue my education. My father had just passed away and I was at a point in my life where I was scared and confused about the future. Luckily, my mother and sister encouraged me to go to college, so I enrolled in a two year college. One semester I took an Art Appreciation class and it reminded me how much I loved art. Art was a field that I felt that I could pursue a career in, so I eventually transferred to Kennesaw State University. During my time at KSU I had the unique opportunity to study art abroad in Italy. I spent a month in Italy studying advanced drawing and art history. During my student teaching semester my former high school art teacher, Mr. Padgent, called me to inform me that he was retiring. He got the wheels turning and had me transfered to East Paulding High School to complete my student teaching experience and to take his position post graduation. I obtained a bachelors degree in art education in December of 2007 and immediatly became a full time staff member in the art department at EPHS.
Aside from my teaching career, I create drawings and paintings at home for commission. I hope you appreciate my art and maybe one day I will have the opportunity to create something special for you!
Sincerely,
Kayla T. Robinson
